Community Payback
Many offenders undertake court-ordered unpaid work in the community as part of their punishment. As well as restricting the offender's liberty, unpaid work projects are designed to be physically, mentally or emotionally demanding, and provide an opportunity for the offenders to learn new skills and solve problems.
They are about making the offender pay back to the community for their crimes. We can't do this without your help. We need to know about projects you think we should be working on.
South Yorkshire Probation actively encourages the public, faith groups, local businesses, voluntary groups, crime reduction partners, and local authorities to contact us and nominate projects which will make a real difference to our communities.
If you have a project in mind which will fit with our health and safety standards, give offenders the chance to learn new skills and benefit the community then we will consider it, providing it doesn't take paid work away from others, and we have the skills and time to do it.
If you have any suggestions for future unpaid work projects, please download the request form for your area, or e-mail us at:
