The South Yorkshire Probation Board is responsible for making sure that the service is reaching the targets set by the Justice Secretary. The board is also the employer of all probation personnel.
The Ministry of Justice appoints up to 15 board members from the local community. It is the role of the board to represent the concerns and views of the local community and to develop plans to effectively reduce crime and increase public protection through community sentences. They bring with them a diverse range of professional and community interests, experience and expertise.
Board meetings are open to the public and held at our head office in Sheffield.
Thursday, 18 September 2008, starts 10am.
